Mark your calendars! The Berkeley Public Library hosts a Resume and Cover Letter Workshop on Monday January 27, 2014, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in the 3rd Floor Community Meeting Room of the Central Library, 2090 Kittredge Street. This free workshop is led by resume expert Marilyn Tullius from Delta Strategies for Marketing. She will address how to handle gaps in employment, focusing the resume for specific jobs, common dilemmas in resume writing; as well as answer individual questions. Attendees should bring copies of their current resume and cover letter for review and advice in a small group discussion setting.

The New Year is a great time to keep that resolution to write that memoir. The Memoir-Writing Workshop will be held on six Tuesday evenings from 6:00 pm to 7:30 p.m. starting on February 4th and continuing through March 11, 2014, in the third-floor Community Meeting Room of the Central Library located at 2014 Kittredge Street. Come to the Claremont Branch Library at 2940 Benvenue Avenue on Wednesday, January 8th at 6:30 p.m. for an evening of compelling true tales. Drawn from two decades working with kids in crisis at King Middle School in Berkeley, Jan Elise Sells, author of Lost and Found: Healing Troubled Teens in Troubled Times will discuss her book and her experiences. She will also share poetry written by youth. Jan will take questions from the audience about helping youth in crisis.
