About the Library

Mission Statement

The Berkeley Public Library supports the individual's right to know by providing free access to information.

The Central Library and four neighborhood Branch Libraries are committed to developing collections, resources, and services that meet the cultural, informational, recreational, and educational needs of Berkeley's diverse, multi-cultural community.

Planning

Berkeley Public Library Staff and the Board of Library Trustees are excited to share news of new projects and services aimed at connecting with you, our community, to improve our Berkeley Public Library buildings, services, and programs.

Board of Library Trustees

The Berkeley Public Library is administered by a Board of Library Trustees [BOLT]. The BOLT is the only appointed administrative Board appointed by the City Council in the City of Berkeley. The Board of Library Trustees webpage has links to their meeting agendas and minutes from current and past meetings as well as contact information.
