How to Play
Players must visit the library at least three times. Write down the books that you have read on the reading log.
1st Visit: Players pick up their log sheet, a button, a bookmark, and their first "visit" sticker.
2nd Visit: Players receive a second "visit" sticker and either a paint sheet or a temporary tattoo.
3rd Visit: Players receive a third "visit" sticker. If the player has finished reading 10 books, 1000 pages, or 10 hours this will be their prize-winning visit.
Additional Visits: If the player needs additional visits to complete their reading, he or she may collect up to five "visit" stickers.
Players Counting HOURS will receive an hour log in addition to the other materials. They should color in one symbol for every 15 minutes that they read. When the symbols in all 10 boxes are colored in, they will have read for 10 hours.
Additional Rules
- Players should read books at their current reading level that they enjoy.
- Books read aloud to players "count," as do books listened to on tape & CD.
- Books may be read in any language.
- Players may only sign-up at one Berkeley Public Library location, submit one reading log, and collect one prize per summer.
- Players visiting Berkeley Public Libraries other than their "home" library may pick up a "visit" sticker during their visit. For example, if you are playing at North Branch, you may pick up a "visit" sticker from Central, South, West, or Claremont.
