Celebrate the Bay Area’s food and beverage scene with the Library’s Farm to Shelf program series! The Library welcomes Chef Dominica Rice-Cisneros and Sous-chef Panfila of Cosecha to the March Farm to Shelf series event. Chef Dominica will demonstrate making incredibly mouth-watering rice and beans using local organic ingredients and spices. After the demonstration, event attendees will have an opportunity to ask recipe and cooking questions of Dominica.

More about Chef and owner Dominica Rice-Cisneros of Cosecha: Dominica Rice-Cisneros is a chef, entrepreneur, mother, wife, community activist and urban gardener who believes that every single person deserves access to high-quality foods. Chef Dominica honed her fine dining skills over the course of her 30+ year career where she spent six years working closely with her mentor Chef Alice Waters at Chez Panisse, interned with Chef Alex Lee at restaurant Daniel, worked at the Four Seasons Hotel in New York City and with Chef Antonio Rivera in Mexico City. It was her experience in Mexico City where she developed an appreciation for the local farmers markets and seasonal cooking, a practice she continues to live by today...Born and raised in Downtown Los Angeles, Dominica is a 2nd generation Mexican-American whose family origins tie back to Chihuahua, Mexico. Dominica continues to raise her small family in the Bay Area. She stays inspired by their travels, the idea of carrying on traditional Mexican recipes, and perfecting Chicana Heritage cooking.
