Have you ever seen a big wave? I mean a really, really huge wave? One that is as big as a two-story house, or 2 two-story houses, or even bigger than that?!
Author Bonnie Tsui joins us in this virtual event to talk about her children's picture book, Sarah and the Big Wave, about the first woman to surf the huge waves at Northern California's Mavericks Surf Competition.
Bonnie Tsui was born in Queens, New York, and raised on Long Island, New York. As her parents met at a swimming pool in Hong Kong, it seemed fitting that she and her brother would have competitive swimming careers. A long-time contributor to the New York Times, Bonnie has also performed numerous times at live storytelling events. She has also written books for adults, including American Chinatown: A People's History of Five Neighborhoods and Why We Swim. Bonnie writes, swims, and surfs in the Bay Area.
