Join us for the fourth in our series of five art history talks with art historian, Mallory Mortillaro. The talk will be "How to Read a Painting" and will be a hybrid event, taking place both virtually and in person at the Central Library (5th floor). To attend virtually, please register online HERE.
Have you ever looked at a painting and wished you could understand it more? This lecture serves as a guide to basic visual analysis. We will review some of the more common symbols and tropes seen in western painting. This lecture provides examples and practice in visual and contextual analysis while examining a variety of artworks. Join us in unpacking these paintings, improving our visual literacy, and increasing our appreciation of art!
