Join us for a talk with Lewis Watts coauthor of Harlem of the West The San Francisco Fillmore Jazz Era . Lewis is an American photographer, archivist curator, art historian, author, lecturer, and educator. His work is inspired by his historical and contemporary interests and representation of people in the African diaspora. Watts work has been exhibited at and has collections at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
We will have a special music performance by Saxophonist Leon Williams . Leon Williams is originally from Detroit and now lives in Berkeley CA. Leon toured the world performing with Gil Scott-Heron for 20 years. Leon Has also performed with such luminaries as Kenny Burrell, David Hardiman, John Handy, Akira Tana, Larry Hancock and Arlington Houston.
