TAX HYPOCRISY AND HOW IT CAN WORK FOR YOU (pdf)
Randy Silverman (pdf) , tax specialist for over 30 years, will present a FREE evening discussion, “Tax Hypocrisy and How it Can Work for You”, at Berkeley Public Library, Central, on Tuesday, February 21 st , 7pm-8:30pm, in the Community Room, 3 rd floor, 2090 Kittredge at Shattuck, downtown Berkeley .

Susan Sai-Wah Louie's photography is on exhibit through March 16 th in the Central Library's First Floor Catalog Lobby. The works are large format black and wite prints and four small Polaroid color transfers. Louie, born in Hong Kong, has traveled extensively: Bali is the focus of the current exhibit. A free artist's talk takes place on SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 25 th at 3:00 in the Central Community Room, featuring slides and a discussion of photo technique. Info: Art & Music at 510-981-6241.
Bay Area Veterans of the Civil Rights Movement Panel Discussion
Three former members of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, Jimmy Rogers, Chud Allen and Donald Jelinek, will provide firsthand accounts of their experiences as young civil rights workers in the Southern Freedom Movement. The panel discussion will be preceded by archival film clips of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee and Freedom Summer. Sunday, February 26 at 2PM at the Central Library.
THE LEGACY OF ACTIVISM: FIGHTING THE GOOD FIGHT (pdf)
Berkeley Public Library will honor the Abraham Lincoln Brigade (pdf) on the 70 th anniversary of its participation in the Spanish Civil War. On Saturday, March 4 th , from 2pm-5:00pm, at the Central Library, 2090 Kittredge (downtown Berkeley ), join us for a film and panel discussion.

March 25 th : SAVE THE DATE!
The Grammy-nominated Pacific Mozart Ensemble will perform in the Central Library's Reading Room on Saturday, March 25 th , at 8:00 p.m. (doors at 7:30) in a free concert ranging from opera to Broadway tunes to Mozart. In order to serve the needs of the small business community, the Berkeley Public Library is collaborating with the small business experts at our local SCORE chapter (you can find out more about the Service Corps Of Retired Executives by visiting www.eastbayscore.org).
A SCORE volunteer is available for one-on-one small business counseling sessions at the Central Library on Monday evenings, from 5pm to 8pm. An appointment is required. Please call 981-6244 to set up your counseling session.
