Banned Books Week Reading A Success

On Monday, October 01, 2007, at 3pm Central Library, 2090 Kittredge at Shattuck, Berkeley, CA 94704, Berkeley Public Library celebrated Banned Books Week in front of Berkeley Public's Central Library by reading aloud from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Berkeley Public Library's Children's Services planned the celebration to celebrate your right to read freely by reading aloud one of the most challenged books of the last 10 years: J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Berkeley Public Library Staff, lead by Director of Library Services Donna Corbeil, was joined by the members of the public of all ages and Acting Mayor Kriss Worthington, City Council Member Gordon Wozniak, and Acting City Manager Lisa Caronna outside the Central Library, 2090 Kittredge (at Shattuck) on Monday, October 1, from 3 - 6 p.m. as we all read aloud from the first in the popular and critically acclaimed series. Here are some pictures from the event and pictures of the Banned Book Mobile over the Information Desk just inside the entrance to the Central Library.
