West Branch

1896-1923: West was opened in February 1896, and was originally located at 845 University Ave. A new branch was planned for by the 1910s, and a beautiful English colonial blueprint was designed by famous local architect Walter Ratcliff.

1923-2012: West moved into a new $14,000 building located at 1125 University Ave in Aug 1923.  This building was designed by architect William K. Bartges.  An extensive remodel and small addition was made in 1974 designed by Ratcliff, Slama, and Cadwalader.  The building was designated a Structure of Merit in May 2003.

2012-Present: With the passing ofMeasure FF a new West branch is to be built on the site of the old building.
