Berkeley Public Library & mak-'amham present: CAFE OHLONE TALKS @ BPL
This is the second event in our series of education sessions with the creators of Cafe Ohlone, hosted by the library! Come learn from & about East Bay Ohlone culture and experience. There are 4 events in the series: 3 hour-long virtual education sessions and 1 in person event, a tea tasting and education session at Cafe Ohlone on the Cal campus. Here are the remaining events:
Talk #2: Chochenyo Language Restoration (April 18 @ 6pm, Zoom link below)
Join mak-'amham founders Vince Medina and Louis Trevino for a discussion of Chochenyo, the language of the East Bay Ohlone, and how a new generation of speakers are making it part of every day life in the East Bay.
Talk #3: East Bay Ohlone Culinary Traditions: Continuity and Restoration (April 25 @ 6pm)
Join mak-'amham founders Vince Medina and Louis Trevino for a discussion of the culinary tradition of the East Bay Ohlone, and why Cafe Ohlone is not just a cafe, but a “love song to Ohlone culture."
Tea & Talk @ Cafe Ohlone (May 3 @ 3pm on Cal Campus)
A tea tasting and education session where you can enjoy tea (and brownies!) with traditional springtime flavors & ingredients while mak-'amham founders Vince Medina and Louis Trevino lead a 30 minute talk followed by audience Q&A.
