Learn a bit about the history of tap dance, watch award-winning performing and teaching artist Quynn Johnson show us some steps and then get up and learn some steps too! Using tap dance to inspire all ages, Ms. Johnson's assemblies, residencies, and workshops offer students tools for creative self-expression.

Ms. Johnson, a graduate of Howard University, is known for her fusion of tap dance, education, and artistry. She has performed at such venues as the Kennedy Center, Washington Ballet, and the Festival Folklorico del Pacifico in Buenaventura and Cali, Colombia and is the co-creator of the D.C. based percussive dance company, SOLE Defined, with Ryan Johnson. She has also won several awards for her choreography, including the Individual Artist Award for Dance Choreography in 2014 and 2017 from the Maryland State Arts Council.
