Legal Access Alameda has ended this program
All remaining Lawyers in the Library appointments are filled until the program concludes as of July 2024.
For legal help, resources, and referrals, please view the information below.
*** Starting July 2024, Legal Access Alameda will no longer offer the Lawyers in the Library program at Berkeley Public Library or other Alameda County-based library systems. Instead, Legal Access Alameda is directing clients to a similar program, Community Legal Assistance Saturday Program (CLASP), for free, brief legal consultation. This program occurs on the first Saturday of every month. To use this service, call the CLASP intake line between 10am-12pm at (510) 485-9933 so they can get the information needed for an attorney consultation. An attorney will call you later that same Saturday for your consultation. (View the program flyers below.)
There are many other local resources for free legal referrals and support in addition to the CLASP program. These can be viewed on this Legal Resources listings maintained by Berkeley Public Library:

In addition to this, it may be helpful to look at the Legal Referral Service Directory provided by the California State Bar, as well as locally Bay Area Legal Aid.
