Kimchi & Krautchi for Teens, w/ Food Ethnographer June Jo Lee 

Curious to try your own hands at making kimchi? Join June Jo Lee, Food Ethnographer and award-winning children's book author, for a kimchi demo, storytime and krautchi-making activity from their book Sandor Katz and The Tiny Wild, a Kirkus Review "Best Picture Book Biographies 2022!"

Materials are first come first serve, while supplies last. 

June Jo Lee is a food ethnographer. She is a speaker at national food and education conferences, co-founder of Readers To Eaters,and is co-author of two picture book biographies, Sandor Katz and The Tiny Wild (2022) and award-winning Chef Roy Choi and the Street Food Remix (2017).June Jo grew up transnationally between Korea, California and Texas, eating her mom’s ‘alien’ kimchi. San Francisco is home.

Wednesday, July 24th
Serving 12-1:30PM: Pasta Marinara with Cheese w/ Salad, Fresh Fruit, Low-fat or Nonfat Milk
Community Room Activity 12:30PM-1:30PM: pattih: Chia Porridge Demo with Cafe Ohlone: Vincent Medina and Louis Trevino will demonstrate how to make chia porridge, a beloved staple of Ohlone cuisine.

Thursday, July 25th
Serving 12-1:30PM: Pepperoni or Cheese Pizza, Snap Peas w/ Ranch Dressing, Fresh Fruit, Low-fat or Nonfat Milk
Community Room Activity 12:30PM-1:30PM: Cooking Skills with AAVE Cafe - Chop Around The Globe: Learn knife skills while preparing the flavor bases of world cuisines, including mirepoix, sofrito, battuto, and tadka 

Friday, July 26th
Serving 12-1:30PM: Beef or Veggie Soft Taco w/ Pinto Beans, Fresh Fruit, Low-fat or Nonfat Milk
