After the disappearance of her scientist father, three peculiar beings send Meg, her brother, and her friend to space in order to find him. Ava DuVernay directs a star-studded cast including Storm Reid as Meg in a performance that critics often singled out. Critic Josh Spiegel said that "Reid is one of the film's biggest assets overall; Meg's arc from being crippled by self-doubt to embracing her faults and her dysfunctional family is wonderfully realized through her expressive and subtle work".
