Have you wondered what impression your resume makes? Most effective resumes allow the reviewer to skim quickly and pick up the predominant threads of the candidate’s career path and potential value. The reviewer forms an impression of you and identifies the high points of your “story.” The resume may offer a glimpse of you in action meeting challenges, leading initiatives, and making changes. You will be more likely to earn an interview when your reviewer concludes that your capabilities are aligned with current needs, relevant to the job requirements, and show accomplishments that will be remembered. To gain insight into where your resume stands on the spectrum of engaging versus not-so-much, you might ask someone—and preferably several people—to look at your resume and tell you what “take aways” they are left with. We will discuss how to enrich your resume, and we will demonstrate ways you can advance toward achieving a more engaging experience for the reviewer.
