Celebrate the Festival of Lights by joining us in making paper diya lamps!
In celebration of Diwali, the festival of lights, we are making paper diyas.
Diwali is a major festival that celebrates the triumph of good over evil, light over darkness, and knowledge over ignorance. It is also known as the Festival of Lights and is celebrated by millions of Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, and Buddhists around the world.
A diya is a small oil lamp that is commonly used in the Indian subcontinent, particularly in India and Nepal. Diyas are typically made from clay and have a cotton wick that is dipped in oil or ghee.
We will be making library friendly, flame free paper versions of this decorative light.
All materials will be provided.
This event will be held in the Tarea Hall Pittman South Branch Library Community Room
