Local poet Norma Smith will read from her work, then sit for an interview and discussion.
Norma Smith has lived in the East Bay since 1969. She has worked as a hospital clerk, union shop steward, radio producer, translator-interpreter (Spanish-English), and as a poet/writer and curator in the Bay Area literary community. Her poetry collection Home Remedy is available from Black Lawrence Press; other poetry and prose appear in literary, scholarly, and political journals. Norma holds a BA in Creative Writing, an MA in Education with Special Focus on Equity Issues, and a PhD in Ethnic and Cultural Studies.
This is a Clearly Meant event. Clearly Meant is an ongoing poetry & interview series at the Claremont Branch, hosted by Glenn Ingersoll. A free chapbook of Norma Smith poems will be available at all Berkeley Public Library branches from mid-September. The chapbook will also be available at the event.
