9th Street Lab was founded by Steve Tornallyay. Steve’s professional background includes industrial design, museum planning, and exhibition design. Through his work as a designer, museum planner, and museumdirector, he has created learning environments and programs for museums, libraries, and schools. 9th Street Lab was founded to offer youth the space and programs where they can use tools, learn to design and build, and tap into their imagination.
Steve has developed and led workshops for Berkeley Public Library and for Berkeley Public Schools at Washington Elementary School, King Middle School, and Longfellow Middle School. Students participated in a wide variety of workshops including woodworking, automata-making, bamboo climbing structures, engineering challenges, instrument building, and taking apart an entire car! 9th Street Lab also runs hands-on weekend workshops and summer build workshops. To learn more visit: 9th St Lab
