The Rising Readers Fourth Grade Book Club meets monthly at the Claremont Branch Library. Currently this program is full, but we will begin taking names for our wait list on Friday, September 20th at 10:00 a.m. Please call (510) 981-6280 on or after that date to have your child's name placed on this list.

Ballet and Books is a not-for-profit organization comprised of UC Berkeley students who mentor children ages 6-9 in literacy and dance.

Reading Buddies builds confidence in young readers and makes reading fun! Kids will be paired with a teen mentor for 30 minutes to read together and play word games. Grades K-3. Registration required.
Reading Buddies is a collaboration with the Berkeley High School, Right Writers Club.

Read to a Dog is a great way for children to practice oral fluency, spend time with a friendly dog, and have fun. The goal is to help build a child's self-esteem and confidence, as well as foster a fondness for reading. Children ages 5 to 12 can sign up for a twenty minute session where they will read aloud to a gentle dog provided by the Alliance of Therapy Dogs, a nonprofit all-volunteer organization.

Please join us at the Frances Albrier Community Center for a special Musical Story Time series with the Berkeley Public Library's Story Time Band. These FREE events will occur on third Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. beginning Thursday, September 19th. Each session will feature live music, movement activities, and read-aloud stories for children ages 2-7. See you there!

Take a stroll and enjoy successive pages from a children’s story along your path. Stop to read each laminated page and answer the prompt. Enjoy the story at your own pace and on your own time.
