Ballet & Books is a non-profit organization of UC Berkeley students who mentor children ages 6-9 in literacy and dance, working to close the literacy gap and connect with the community.
Mentoring sessions start February 17 at the Berkeley Public Library!

In honor of Black History Month, join educator, actor, community organizer and internationally recogized poet, Jamey William for an Adult/Teens Writing Workshop at West Branch Berkeley Public Library!
After winning the Compliment Death Match at the National Potery Slam in 2017, Jamey Williams became the first person to be dubbled "the nicest poet in the country."
This Creative Writing Workshop will include writing your own spoken word, poetry and/or song, depending on your interest.
Writers of all experience levels are welcome.

Reading Buddies builds confidence in young readers and makes reading fun! Kids will be paired with a teen mentor for 30 minutes to read together and play word games. Grades K-3.

Reading Buddies is a collaboration with the Berkeley High School, Right Writers Club.
One-on-one (scheduled) drop-in tutoring sessions are available for learners of Berkeley READS Adult Literacy Program who are on our wait list and for those who want additional assistance. Adult literacy learners and tutors can also access tools in our computer lab at Central in the Electronic Classroom.
