These FREE events will occur on third Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. beginning Thursday, September 19th. Each session will feature live music, movement activities, and read-aloud stories for children ages 2-7. See you there!

The Berkeley Public Library is excited to offer a summer StoryWalk featuring the picture book Big Dance by Aoife Greenham.
Take a stroll and enjoy successive pages from a children’s story along your path. Stop to read each laminated page and answer the prompt. Enjoy the story at your own pace and on your own time.
Gentrification is uprooting communities around the world and inspiring new forms of resistance that may very well transform it. Andrew Lee will discuss gentrification’s historical roots and global scope while sharing the analyses emerging from interviews with over a dozen activists across the US. A former participant in the campaign to stop the development of Google’s San José campus, Lee today lives in Philadelphia and organizes with No Arena in Chinatown Solidarity.

Ballet & Books is a non-profit organization of UC Berkeley students who mentor children ages 6-9 in literacy and dance, working to close the literacy gap and connect with the community.

Adult literacy learners and tutors can also access tools in our computer lab at Central in the Electronic Classroom.
