Free Health Insurance Enrollment Presentation and Assistance

Have you lost your health insurance? Want to learn more about signing up for health insurance?

Covered California has extended open enrollment until May 15, so you, your friends, and your family can still apply today!

The Berkeley Public Library has partnered with UC Berkeley's California Health Professional Student Alliance (CaHPSA) for a virtual presentation on enrolling in healthcare through Covered California. Certified Enrollment Specialists will offer personalized, 20 minute, one-on-one sessions for you to receive information and help on health insurance enrollment.

Antidotes to White Fragility

Join White Noise Collective for this timely workshop. Learn useful skills, tools and approaches as white people interested in engaging in anti-racist/racial justice education and work. We will explore cultivating resilience as opposed to fragility as key to making such work more effective. Participants will learn how to: stay with the conversation; give and receive information without becoming defensive or reactive and managing guilt and shame that comes with knowledge of our country’s racist history.

Women in STEM: S is for Science with Geologist Pinkie Young

Geologist and science educator Pinkie Young works for the Lawrence Hall of Science and Scientific Adventures for Girls. Learn about what geology is, what she does, and what got her interested in her field of work. She'll also do a demonstration of a science experiment about growing crystals and take your questions. Ages 8-12.

A Food Demonstration and Conversation with Co-founders of mak-‘amham/Cafe Ohlone

A food demonstration and conversation with Vincent Medina and Louis Trevino, co-founders of mak-‘amham/Cafe Ohlone. Vincent and Louis will lead a discussion on their efforts to strengthen Ohlone culture and history. They will also describe the importance of food in Ohlone culture. This program is aimed at teens, but all ages are welcome.
