Have you ever wondered how to self-publish your own work? From comics to recipes to poetry to manifestos, anything is possible when we learn the power of how to make and share ZINES!!!
What's a zine (said zeen)? It's a short, handmade booklet about anything you want to share with the world--and anyone can make one!
Join us in the Teen Room to learn about all things ZINE and make your very own mini-zine with the help of experienced zinesters. Bay Area artist Carmen Virginia Johns will share her zine-making process, the awesome zines she’s made, and answer your zine-related questions.
Thanks to The Friends of the Berkeley Public Library for funding the supplies in this program, and for supporting this special visit from Carmen Virginia Johns.
Carmen Virginia Johns is a Bay Area-based cartoonist, zine maker, and former teacher who has been churning out zines of all kinds and tabling zine fairs all over the country for over eight years. Her comics and self-care zines revolve around topics of anxiety, dancing, and friendship!
