Black Punk Now Author Talk & Music @924 Gilman

Join us for a very special Library event as we celebrate the release of BLACK PUNK NOW, an anthology co-edited by punk rock authors James Spooner and  Chris L. Terry. Contributors to the collection include critic Hanif Abdurraqib and cartoonist Raeghan Buchanan, conversations with Brontez Purnell, and a roundtable of all femme festival organizers.

In The Stax Music Series: Rosenity @THP South

Join us for a live performance of In the Stax Music series featuring poet Rosenity. 

Rosenity Ros (Pronounced Rose) is a Cambodian-Malaysian American youth organizer, poet, and musician from Deep East Oakland, California. After surviving gun violence, Rose went on to obtain his BA in Community Studies at UC Santa Cruz. Rosenity finds passion in arts and activism where he founded his youth program Dreams Arts & Activism through Homies Empowerment.

This performance will be a mixture of poetry and R&B music!

Join us for a live music performance by singer, song writer, Chris Waltz at Central Library. Chris Waltz will perform a popular and eclectic blend of traditional Celtic music from Ireland and Scotland performed on voice, guitar, fiddle, Irish flute, Irish tin whistle, and the Celtic Low whistle featuring songs sung in Irish/Gaelic and English. The performance will be on our Art & Music 5th floor from 4 to 5 pm.

Join us for this special event featuring Youtube sensation Bri Reads and acclaimed children's author Phillip D. Cortez for an afternoon of music, stories, and crafts! Phillip will be reading his new picture book I'll Be the Moon: A Migrant Child's Story.

Ballet and Books @Central CMR

Ballet and Books is back!

Ballet & Books is a non-profit organization of UC Berkeley students who mentor children ages 6-9 in literacy and dance, working to close the literacy gap and connect with the community.

 

Mentoring sessions start September 23rd at the Berkeley Public Library!

Central, 3rd Floor Community Meeting Room, 2090 Kittredge St.

Every Saturday 9/23-11/4, 10am-12pm (unless library is closed)
