African American Country Music: Make Your Own Popsicle Stick "Harmonica"

Come and make and decorate a homemade "harmonica" with simple materials and jam along to harmonica music! We'll be doing this craft in honor of DeFord Bailey, a harmonica virtuoso and the first Black star of the Grand Ole Opry. Ages 5-8.

Check the library's calendar for more events about African-American Country Music leading up our December 7th family friendly celebration, and culminating in the first ever DeFord Bailey Legacy Festival, beginning on December 13th at Freight and Salvage.

Canceled: 3D Cardboard Craft @THP South

Come learn how to make 3D collages made out of cardboard at the South Branch Art Studio! 

This event is a part of the Art Studio nights at Tarea Hall Pittman South Branch. 

Every third Thursday of the month we will host an open art studio but will explore different types of process art styles. 

This month, we we learn how to manipulate cardboard and other paper materials into 3D pieces. 

All materials and tools are provided but please feel free to bring your own supplies.

Westward Bound: African-American Country Music History & Cowboy Lore featuring Chanel London of Hella Artsy @Central TR

Westward Bound explores the history of Black cowboys in the United States and celebrates African-American musicians in country music. 

Join us for a Beyoncé inspired craft on Saturday November 16th from 4-5pm. We will be bedazzling cowboy hats with fabric gems, textile paint, disco pieces and more! The event is led by Chanel London, founder of Hella Artsy. 

Bring your cowboy boots and get ready to sparkle!

Sewing Circle @Central

It's happening again!

Come to Central Monday night November 18th from 5-7 and you will find a room full of sewing machines. Plus as an extra bonus, we will provide fabric from Nooworks on hand to play with and keep.

This is a self-directed opportunity to use our sewing machines, but we will have a few volunteers who can provide simple assistance.

You can use a machine for one hour (more if there's no one waiting).

In celebration of Diwali, the festival of lights, we are making paper diyas. 

Diwali is a major festival that celebrates the triumph of good over evil, light over darkness, and knowledge over ignorance. It is also known as the Festival of Lights and is celebrated by millions of Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, and Buddhists around the world.
