Berkeley Public Library presents In the Stax, a Music Series featuring the experimental jazz ensemble, Wiener Kids.
The saxophones/drum trio was formed in 2007 in Oakland, CA by drummer/composer Jordan Glenn with the help of Aram Shelton and Cory Wright. It incoporates percussive sounds from near and far. Objects and instruments include gongs, tin cans, Tibetan bowls, bundt pans, chromatic cowbells, angklung (bamboo rattles), car springs, glockenspiels, various whistles, suitcase-vibraphone, drums and bells. The music is a wild ride of energy and whimsy.
Celebrate summer with a Teen tie dye party on the lawn at North Branch! Our friends from Berkeley Parks & Rec will be here to lead the tie dying. We will provide white t-shirts (while supplies last), snacks, and instructions. You bring creativity and clothes that can get dirty. You are welcome to bring your own item to tie dye if you wish! Middle and high schoolers welcome.
